The Apave Group strengthens its offer of professional training in safety at work and technical compliance with the acquisition of PPL Training, the UK's leading training company

Press release10/07/2024
Apave, an international group with more than 150 years of experience, specialising in the management of technical, environmental, human and digital risks, today announced the acquisition of PPL Training, a UK company specialising in Safe Systems of Work and Technical Compliance Training Courses.

PPL Training

a leader in technical training in the UK

PPL Training has been supporting its customers for almost 20 years in training their teams in workplace safety and technical compliance.

Recognised as a leader in its market, PPL Training offers its customers a wide range of training courses: electrical and mechanical safety, water hygiene and sanitation, safety in the healthcare system, gas handling and fire safety.

With over 70 employees, including many qualified trainers, the company has numerous accreditations from UK certification bodies to ensure the quality of its training courses, such as City & Guilds and BPEC (British Plumbing Employers Council).

Located in 3 cities in the UK, PPL Training organises training sessions at its three campuses in York, Slough and Livingston - more than 4,600 m² and 30 classrooms -   welcoming more than 11,000 trainees every year. Each campus has rooms for theoretical training and technical facilities for the practical parts, some of which are highly specialised, such as an operating theatre/ ante room reproducing a hospital environment (York and Slough) or areas equipped with high and low voltage training equipment.
The company also provides training at its customers' sites and remotely.

An acquisition

expanding Apave's training offering in Europe

With more than 200 training centres worldwide and almost 560,000 trainees each year, Apave is a leader in professional training leading to qualifications in "Risk Management and Work Safety".
Since the end of 2020, and in line with its strategic plan, Apave has been broadening and enhancing its training offering with new, more innovative teaching methods and wider geographical coverage. The acquisition of PPL Training will enable the Group to extend its training offering to the English market and create a training platform in English-speaking countries.

This acquisition, the 22th by the Group since the end of 2020, completes Apave's presence in the UK, following the announcement in July 2024 of the acquisition of PIM, a company specialising in Asset Integrity Management solutions.

Professional training leading to qualifications represents a major social and societal challenge: ensuring the safety of working environments and their employees and developing people's employability. Here, Apave confirms its commitment to supporting its customers and the general public in making their homes and workplaces safer.

“Following years of steady growth in the UK training market, the acquisition of PPL Training by the Apave Group will allow us to expand into new locations and training sectors, as well as offering more opportunities to the industrial sector, including nuclear. Seen by all as the next chapter of our success story, we are all looking forward to working with Apave, integrating our strengths to build a stronger future for our clients, and their respective delegates”, says Gary Cooper, Managing Director of PPL Training.

The acquisition of PPL Training by the Apave Group will enable us to accelerate our ambition to support our customers in making their own transitions a success, while continuing to focus on our core business: risk management. I would like to extend a warm welcome to the PPL Training teams!
